Your Skin, Your Way: Hayley from Our Satellite Hearts

Meet Hayley, owner of Our Satellite Hearts. In this article we interview Hayley about her life, skincare, and how she does things "her way!"

How do you do things “Your Way” when it comes your life/ career/business?

I would love to say I’m a planner and super organised, but that would be a lie! I just try to go with the the flow. I try to not worry about what others are doing in business and stick to my own personal style.

What is one of the biggest learnings you have had around this topic?

I am constantly learning things everyday! A big part of my life is taken up by my business. I really feel it’s hard to get a good work/life balance when running your own small business while having a family. Still a work in progress after nearly 6 years.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Are there any routines or rituals you follow on daily weekly basis to keep your mind and body in a healthy space?

My only routine is that I have NO routine. I do love to go for a walk around the river if I can get a spare hour in my day, I put my headphones on and listen to a book on Audible.

@elisereiki my beautiful friend and local spiritual healer takes amazing care of my mind! I see her once a month professionally. Her services are such an important part of my personal development and healing.

What are you reading, listening too that inspires you everyday?

I think so much about how to do things differently or “better” and that can often feel overwhelming when you never feel like you’re quite hitting the mark. Listening to novels and going for a walk often help me just forget everything else for an hour. Recently I have listened to a book called Honeybee. It was narrated so perfectly and I would love to see it made into a movie.

What has been the biggest issue facing your skin?

I always feel like my skin has never been really good, or really bad. I do have Rosacea, and that can make my skin look red and inflamed on the cheeks. I’ve wanted to be able to not wear any makeup, but always feel like I have to cover up the redness.

What have you learnt about your skin as part of its life journey so far
If you could give skin advice to your younger self what would it be?

Ohhh I would have been much more consistent with a skincare routine from an earlier age. That sometimes less is more. And sunscreen!

Makeup + SPF Reapplication

Makeup + SPF Reapplication

If you're a skincare nerd like myself, you will know all about the importance of using daily SPF not only for sun protection, but for anti-aging as well as supporting our skin barrier with our use of actives in our skincare products. You will (hopefully) also know we are only protected by our SPF for 2-3 hours after every application. So what does that mean for those who wear make up everyday? Reapplying your sunscreen over a full glam look is...not ideal.
